Apple plans to develop a new Vision Pro headset with lower weight and improved comfort, alongside reduced cost compared to its present model. Early users of the improved headset should expect its release during late 2025 or early 2026. The manufacturer aims to enhance comfort features along with production cost reductions to achieve broad accessibility for this device.

Why Apple Is Making a Lighter Headset

The current Apple Vision Pro is heavy and expensive. Many users find it uncomfortable to wear for long periods. Apple’s solution is to create a lighter version. Here is how they plan to do it.

  1. Using Stronger Lighter Materials
The new headset will replace some internal aluminum parts with titanium. Titanium is as strong as aluminum but lighter. This change should make the headset easier to wear for hours.
  2. A Cheaper Price Tag
The lighter model might cost between $1,500 and $2,500. That is much less than the current $3,499 price. Apple wants to attract more buyers who cannot afford the high-end version.
  3. A Fresh Design
The new headset could come in a sleek black color like the old iPhone 5. This helps people tell it apart from the more expensive Pro model.

Features of the New Vision Pro

The lighter Vision Pro will keep many features of the original, but with improvements.

  • Better Comfort
The lighter design means less strain on your head and neck. This is great for watching movies or working in virtual reality for longer.
  • Works With Mac
Apple is also testing a version that connects to a Mac computer. The Mac would handle the heavy processing, making the headset faster and smoother for tasks like gaming or 3D design.
  • Same High Quality
The headset will still have great visuals and sound. You might see slightly lower screen resolution, but most users will not notice a difference.

What Could Go Wrong
Some worry the cheaper model might lack premium features. For example, it might not show your eyes on the front screen or use a slower iPhone-style chip.

When Can You Buy It

Apple plans to release the lighter Vision Pro between late 2025 and early 2026. The company is still deciding whether this model will replace the current Pro or sell alongside it. Delays could push the launch to 2027, but Apple wants to move fast.

Competition From Other Brands

Apple is not alone in the headset market. Companies like Meta and Sony are making their own AR and VR devices. By offering a cheaper, lighter Vision Pro, Apple hopes to stay ahead.

What This Means for You

The upcoming 2026 model stands as a potentially ideal solution for users who cannot afford or find the Vision Pro within their comfort zone. Users in various fields, from students to artists, alongside casual audiences, appreciate how the model strikes a good balance of performance and usability. Watch for Apple to release final updates about their design development.
