Nvidia is seeing very strong demand for its Blackwell family of AI chips. Chief Executive Jensen Huang said customers want more capacity and that production and supply partners are working to meet that demand. The company has been working closely with its foundry and memory suppliers to scale output and to keep deliveries on track.

Strong Demand Persists

Nvidia leaders describe the market for Blackwell chips as intense. Data center customers are buying systems for AI training and inference. Cloud providers, research labs, and major enterprises are among the buyers. Nvidia said customers are using existing inventory at a high rate. The company also clarified that an earlier comment about chips being “sold out” meant that demand has outpaced available inventory at some assembly points rather than a permanent shortage.

Supply Chain Notes

Nvidia refers to TSMC as suppliers of wafers and to key memory manufacturers as suppliers of high-bandwidth memory. The company reported that its partners are increasing capacity and delivering high-technology samples. Nvidia also reported that sale of some advanced chips to some markets is prohibited by export rules. The company is also handling allocations to prioritize customers and comply with export regulations.

The implication of this to the market and the buyers is simple. Big Blackwell orders should have high competition from the enterprises and cloud providers. Early planning and personal communication with the vendors and system partners is likely to advantage customers whose needs are urgent. Smaller buyers could have to deal with extended lead times because large-scale buyers have taken up capacity.

Nvidia further reported that demand is high and the company and its suppliers are investing to increase production. This involves increased wafer allocation, scaling memories, and proximity planning of logistics. The goal is to prevent the consistent shortage and address the explosive AI compute demands.
