Contrary to earlier plans, the story mode of the Palace of the Nerub’ar in The War Within will be available sooner than expected, not with Wing 3 of the Raid Finder as previously planned. The developers have officially announced this change.
With the release of The War Within, the next expansion for World of Warcraft, fans will be able to enjoy a new raid mode. The story mode will let players who prefer not to engage in lengthy group content experience the raid’s story in a private group of one to five heroes.

Story Mode for Palace of the Nerub’ar Opens with Second LFR Wing
As announced by the WoW team in an official blue post, the story mode for the Palace of the Nerub’ar will not open with the final LFR wing but with the second wing of the Raid Finder.
This means that starting September 17, 2024, you can experience the Nerub’ar Palace raid in story mode and complete the campaign story without having to engage in full raid content.
The developers are addressing fan criticism that releasing the story mode at the same time as the third LFR wing would result in a long wait to finish the first campaign of The War Within.
The decision to make the story mode available earlier than planned demonstrates Blizzard’s commitment to enhancing the single-player experience in World of Warcraft with The War Within.
