Since the latest Nintendo Direct Showcase and the announcement of the new game The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, fans of the series have been speculating about the possibilities of the new abilities featured in the gameplay.

Princess Zelda, who is a playable character for the first time and gives the game its title, is equipped with a special magic wand. This wand allows her to create images, known as echoes, of objects and even enemies, which she can use in various situations. But how far can this magical ability extend? Is it possible to capture an echo of the ever-persistent boss, or even of the hero of Hyrule himself?

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – With Ganon against Ganon?

Some enemies, like the Moblins familiar from the game series’ spin-offs, can be captured as echoes and unleashed on other enemies. This ability can also affect some of the game’s environments. But can all enemies be captured this way? One fan on the Legend of Zelda subreddit speculates that it might even be possible to capture the main villain, Ganon. Capturing the pig-nosed monster and controlling it as post-game content would be a fun twist.

However, hopes for this are tempered by the fact that Zelda games rarely offer content after the main story. Yet the idea is intriguing: What if you could create an echo of Ganon and somehow use it against him? Or perhaps use it to fight an even bigger enemy, who turns out to be the real final boss? It would be an interesting twist to see the eternal antagonist “teaming up” with the heroine (or heroes) on the same side.

One user even imagines fighting Ganon with an echo of Link. In the trailer, we see the hero of Hyrule being swallowed by a mysterious purple crack in the ground. These dangers appear throughout the realm. What if there is an underworld or parallel world, similar to those in Tears of the Kingdom or A Link to the Past, and Zelda can’t rescue Link from there but can bring his echo along instead?

Whether these speculations turn out to be true or not, fans of The Legend of Zelda can certainly expect Echoes of Wisdom to feature surprises and innovative gameplay elements. There are even hints that players might not only start this new adventure with Princess Zelda as the main character. The latest Zelda game is set to be released on September 26th for the Nintendo Switch.
