The Game Was About to Be Shut Down Anyway
The man who was attacked, Zachary Dinh, received treatment for head injuries at the hospital but has since been discharged. The alleged assailant was arrested by the police and is currently in custody awaiting trial. He reportedly confessed to his mother about the attack but claimed he did not intend to kill his victim.
During police questioning, the alleged perpetrator simply stated, “Dinh is a bad person online.” The servers for the MMORPG game Archeage, where the incident leading to the attack allegedly occurred, were shut down a few days later. This adds to the intrigue of the incident, as achievements or items in the game were permanently deleted shortly thereafter.
