TikTok is adding a new control that lets people choose how much AI-generated content appears in their For You feed. The setting lives in Manage Topics and works like the other topic sliders, so users can turn down or turn up AI content. This change rolls out in the coming weeks as a test.

Control AI Content

The control appears inside Settings, then Content Preferences, then Manage Topics. Users will find a slider they can move to see fewer AI-generated videos or more of them. The slider does not remove AI content entirely, and it does not change the Following feed. TikTok says the control is meant to let people shape the mix in their For You feed.

Invisible Watermarking Explained

TikTok will impose invisible watermarks on those videos produced through TikTok tools. The platform will also read and use C2PA Content Credentials when they are present. The invisible watermarks are designed so TikTok can spot AI content even when visible labels are removed or when a video is re-uploaded on another site. This is meant to make labeling more reliable.

TikTok already asks creators to label realistic AI content, and it uses Content Credentials as one layer of protection. The new invisible watermarks are an extra layer that only TikTok can read. The company says this will help it track edits and preserve context as videos move around the web.

TikTok is also funding AI literacy. The company created a $2 million fund to support education and projects that teach people how to spot and think about AI content. TikTok provided examples of the kind of partners it will collaborate with, including Girls Who Code. The fund should assist creators and the general population to understand what AI tools are and how to use them safely.
