Siren, one of PlayStation’s most underrated franchises, may be gearing up for a comeback. Sony Interactive Entertainment has renewed the registration for the survival horror series, suggesting that it may return in some form.

Sony filed the new registration on August 24, 2023, and it was published on September 1, 2023. The description mentions “entering another world,” which could be the theme of a possible new game in the series.

On August 3 of this year, Sony released a remastered version of the original Siren soundtrack, featuring high-quality versions of the music. This is another indication that the company remains interested in the IP and may be preparing to revive it soon.

The first Siren was developed by Project Siren, a team that worked at the now-defunct Japan Studio, and released for the PS2 in 2003. The story follows a group of characters in the village of Hanuda, Japan, with the ability to see and hear the experiences of people nearby. The game received a sequel for the PS2, a remake for the PS3, a movie, and two manga adaptations.

To progress in the game, players had to complete objectives, deal with undead enemies called shibito, or find certain items. Objects in the stages are interconnected, with one character’s actions in one stage triggering secondary objectives elsewhere.”
