Apple is developing a folding iPhone, and Samsung is preparing a special screen for it. This screen is unique in that it is much thinner than the screen on other folding phones. The iPhone Fold (its rumored name) might come out in late 2026 or early 2027.
Leakers say the screen has the touch sensor built inside it, which makes the phone 19% thinner than Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold. This could make the iPhone Fold lighter and easier to carry.

What Makes This Screen Special
Thinner and Lighter
Most folding phones have a touch sensor layer on top of the screen. Apple’s iPhone Fold will have the touch sensor inside the screen itself. This change makes the phone thinner and the screen less likely to crack.
The iPhone Fold’s screen will be 7.76 inches when unfolded, like a small tablet. When folded, it will have a 5.49-inch screen on the outside. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also getting thinner, but Apple’s screen might be better.
Better Brightness and Colors
The new screen is also brighter and shows colors more accurately. Apple’s iPhones are known for great screens, and this folding phone should be no different. Others believe that it could even be prettier than the current iPhones.
Another big improvement: the screen crease (fold line) may not be that pronounced. This is an issue that affects many folding phones, but Apple wishes to do something about it.
Why Samsung is Making the Screen
Samsung is the only company that is producing screens for the iPhone Fold now. Normally, Apple deals with several suppliers, but Samsung’s folding screen tech is unparalleled.
This is a precarious move on Samsung’s part. Their Galaxy Z Fold phones compare with the iPhone Fold. In aiding Apple, Samsung might end up losing customers to its own enemy.
When Will the iPhone Fold Come Out
Coming to the iPhone Fold, it will be released at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027. It will be really expensive, $2100-$2300. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 might cost $1,900.
Apple hopes that this phone is perfect (even if that requires more time to produce). They do not want to hurry a product that can break easily.
What This Means for Other Phones
More people could start purchasing folding phones if Apple’s folding iPhone works effectively. Right now, only 1.5% of phones sold are foldable. Experts think this could grow to nearly 5% by 2028.
Samsung could benefit too. Even though they’re helping Apple, they might sell more screens to other companies.

Should You Believe These Rumors
The leaks come from a source named Yeux1122, who has been right and wrong before. For example, they wrongly said Apple would stop making 5G chips.
But other leakers agree about the screen size and price. Since Samsung is the top folding screen maker, this news makes sense. Apple has not confirmed anything yet. Until they do, treat this as a rumor.
