Are you having battery problems on your iPhone? Have you noticed that it hasn’t been lasting as long as it used to? Battery life depends on many factors, and it’s normal for it to decrease over time. However, before you think about upgrading to the new iPhone 16, replacing your phone, or getting a new battery, there are a few steps you can take to extend its battery life.

Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

These solutions aren’t magical fixes, and like most adjustments that improve battery life, they come with small compromises. At Thetechbasic, we’ve created a list of 10 settings you can turn off to help your battery last longer. Some of these are minor tweaks you might already know about, but others could surprise you and provide a noticeable improvement in daily battery life.

By disabling most of these settings, you’ll likely gain some extra time on your iPhone’s battery each day, making it easier to get through your daily routine. You can start by turning off a few settings and gradually adjusting more. While there will be some trade-offs, it’s better than having your iPhone die at 7 p.m. every evening.

10 Things to Disable to Get More Battery Life on Your iPhone

  1. Disable 5G: Switch to 4G LTE, which provides a reliable connection while significantly reducing modem power consumption.
  2. Turn Off ‘Hey Siri’: If you rarely use Apple’s voice assistant, it’s best to disable active listening. You can still activate Siri manually by holding down the lock button.
  3. Disable Automatic Updates: When your battery is running low, prevent the system from updating apps automatically. Turn off this feature and manually update apps later when your phone is charging at home. This avoids unnecessary battery drain at inconvenient times.
  4. Turn Off Sound Detection: Check the ‘Accessibility’ section to see if sound detection is enabled. If you don’t use this feature, disable it. This prevents your iPhone from constantly listening for alarms or loud sounds, saving battery life.
  5. Limit iCloud Syncing: Review the services you’ve enabled for iCloud syncing. The fewer services you sync, the better for your battery. Disable any unnecessary options, and your iPhone’s battery will last longer.
  6. Disable Precise Location: In the location settings, restrict apps from constantly accessing your location. Allow only the essential ones to minimize unnecessary energy consumption.
  7. Adjust Brightness Settings: Brightness is a major factor in battery usage. Switch to automatic brightness instead of using manual settings. This allows your iPhone to manage screen brightness efficiently, reducing power usage to the minimum required.
  8. Reduce Effects and Animations: In the ‘Accessibility’ section, you can minimize motion and transparency effects in the interface. This reduces the strain on your iPhone’s battery, helping it last longer.
  9. Turn Off Activity Detection: While you can still use the Health or Fitness app, disable the setting that detects physical activity automatically. This prevents your iPhone from continuously monitoring your movements, saving energy.
  10. Disable Handoff: If you don’t use other Apple devices for seamless file sharing or interactions, it’s best to turn off Handoff. Just remember to enable it when needed for AirDrop or connecting to a Mac.
