Apple has officially confirmed that all iPhone 16 models will come with 8 GB of RAM. This information was shared by Johny Srouji, Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies at Apple, during an interview with Geekerwan. Some analysts had previously speculated that the Pro series might feature 12 GB of RAM.

The move to 8 GB of RAM for the entire iPhone 16 lineup is a notable upgrade from the previous generation. Last year’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models had 6 GB of RAM, while only the Pro versions included 8 GB of RAM.

This increase in memory is said to be crucial for supporting on-board AI features. However, Srouji emphasized that the decision to boost the RAM was not driven solely by Apple’s AI needs. He noted that the additional memory would also enhance other applications, especially gaming.

How Apple Optimizes Its Devices

In the interview, the manager shared insights into Apple’s approach to developing hardware. He explained that the company uses simulation and performance modeling tools to find the best configuration for each device. For the iPhone, Apple determined that a mix of two performance cores and four efficiency cores best suits the device’s needs.

Srouji emphasized the advantages of Apple’s integrated approach, where software and hardware development are closely aligned. This synergy, he argued, allows for optimizations that enhance performance while reducing resource waste.
