WhatsApp is Updated on the iPhone With a Super Useful Function

If you have an iPhone and use WhatsApp, you will soon receive a function that may surprise you but will be very useful when you need it. WABetaInfo was the first to report about this new feature related to the multimedia section. It aims to enhance the experience of sending large files, especially beneficial for users with slow Internet connections.

What does it do? This feature addresses the issue where multimedia content fails to send without the user’s knowledge. WhatsApp has resolved this with a simple notification that alerts users to errors, whether it’s a pause in sending or a failure to load.

Previously, WhatsApp did not notify users when a photo or video failed to send, requiring them to open the app to discover the issue. The app now aims to promptly inform users of any problems so they can either resume sending or choose an alternative file.

Moreover, the notification on iPhones is detailed, specifying the type of issue encountered (pause or loading failure) and displaying a thumbnail of the affected video or image for identification. It serves purely informational purposes; tapping the notification won’t resume sending but will direct you to the WhatsApp conversation.

If you’re interested, you’ll need to wait a bit longer. This feature is currently in the beta version of the iPhone app, as the company needs to ensure everything works correctly before a global release. This notification for failed content is likely one of the new features in an upcoming update for Apple devices.

WhatsApp Prepares More Things for your iPhone

WhatsApp is unlikely to release an update solely for this new feature. It’s anticipated that several features will be launched together, and your iPhone will integrate them in the coming weeks.

Here are some upcoming features that WhatsApp has been developing, expected to roll out to iPhones—and some Androids—globally soon, including the new feature highlighted in this article:

  • WhatsApp will soon allow administrators to send notifications for community events. They can choose two time periods to remind you about events you’ve signed up for.
  • If you have both an iPhone and a Mac, you’ll soon be able to make video calls with up to 32 members.
  • WhatsApp is improving the privacy of hidden chats by adding a password or PIN lock for individual conversations. This feature should be available very soon or may already be on your iPhone.
  • The messaging app will introduce a new ‘favorites’ list where you can add contacts that will have priority for calls or sharing multimedia content.
