In the summer of 2024, Phase 4 of the “Season of Discovery” began for all WoW Classic fans. One of the key mechanics introduced are the new class runes aimed at enhancing player power. This guide provides details on all currently known runes for mages and their respective locations.

For the “Season of Discovery” introduced at BlizzCon 2023 for World of Warcraft Classic, also known as “Classic+”, developers unveiled a series of new features. These include additional level phases before level 60, new level-up raids, new class roles, and a new rune engraving and rune system designed to boost player power.
With the latter, players will unlock runes through new “discovery” quests, treasure chests, or secrets scattered throughout Azeroth. Once unlocked, runes are added to a new rune interface connected to the character window. From there, players can cast “rune engraving” spells and attach runes to various equipment pieces. Once attached, a new spell is unlocked for the player.
In this guide, we present all currently known runes for mages and their locations (Season of Discovery – Phase 4 or Level 60).

Arcane Barrage
Slot: Cloak
Level 1
Fires multiple missiles at the enemy target, dealing 447,791 to 547,856 Arcane damage. This spell also has a 20% chance to trigger ‘Missile Barrage.’

Frozen Orb
Slot: Cloak
Level 1
Launches a swirling ice orb that moves forward quickly for 16 seconds. While moving, it deals 112,573 Frost damage every second to all enemies it passes through and applies ‘Chill,’ reducing their movement speed by 30%. Upon first hitting an enemy, it slows their movement and has a 100% chance to trigger the ‘Fingers of Frost’ rune.

Overheat

‘Fire Blast’ always critically strikes, can be cast while casting another spell, and is not affected by the global cooldown.

As more runes are discovered, we will update the corresponding articles for you. Since the Season of Discovery is not being tested on the PTR, it will take some time after it goes live on the servers for all the runes to be found.
