For those who’ve been around a while, Cataclysm came after WotLK, nearly 14 years ago in the original WoW. That’s why many players have an idea of what to anticipate. However, this isn’t entirely the case anymore. There will be some alterations from the previous version of the pre-patch, as officially declared by Blizzard.
Notable Changes in the Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch
Certain changes in the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch are linked to features that were absent during that era, while others are postponed due to time constraints. Here’s what you need to anticipate:
- Adjustments in the functionality of Hunter pets.
- Absence of the Void Storage feature.
- Some guild perks will not be available.
- Delay in the implementation of certain guild features.
- The enhanced drop rate for WotLK Dungeons will remain unchanged.
The removal of certain guild perks has sparked strong reactions within the community. While many acknowledge that the “cash flow” perk might be deemed unnecessary now, others view the issue from a different perspective, seeing it as essential for group coordination and travel.
This particular perk is highly valued by most players, and there is widespread confusion as to why the developers have chosen not to include it in the game. Calls to reinstate it are already echoing loudly across forums and comment sections.

Below is our comprehensive Blue Post regarding the alterations in the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch:
Changes in Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch (4.4.0)
Hunter Pet
In the original Cataclysm (Patch 4.0.3a), hunters had the ability to keep up to 5 pets in their stable and summon them anywhere in the game world. However, with the commencement of Patch 4.4.0 in Cataclysm Classic, hunters will experience a change reminiscent of Wrath Classic. Hunters will now be restricted to summoning just one pet and will need to visit a stable master to switch to a different pet.
This functionality adjustment will be updated with the launch of the Cataclysm Classic expansion, or potentially sooner. Additionally, the original aggressive stance introduced in Cataclysm, replaced later by the supportive stance in Patch 4.2.0, is set to make a return in Patch 4.4.0, with the supportive stance slated for a future update.
Void Storage
Initially introduced in Patch 4.3.0 of World of Warcraft, the Void Storage feature will not be included in Cataclysm Classic. This decision is influenced by the introduction of a new collections feature and account-wide transmogrification, effectively reducing the necessity for Void Storage in storing transmogrification items.
Guild Perks
The guild perks system in Cataclysm Classic has undergone adjustments. Unlike in the original Cataclysm, guilds no longer progress through levels, and item rewards are now tied to players’ guild reputation. Many perks are now instantly accessible upon joining a guild, and several perks previously exclusive to guilds in the original Cataclysm are now available to all players by default. However, two perks from the original Cataclysm, namely “Got a Party, Now I Want to Travel” and “Cash Flow,” will not be available in Cataclysm Classic.

Guild Finder and Guild Event Calendar
Patch 4.1.0 of the original Cataclysm introduced a guild finder system and a guild event calendar to World of Warcraft. While not initially included, the Guild Finder and Guild Event Calendar are slated for addition to Cataclysm Classic in a future patch following the release of Cataclysm content.
Barber Shop Temporarily Closed for Worgen
At the beginning of the pre-patch, Worgen characters will temporarily be unable to access the Barber Shop. However, this access restriction is anticipated to be lifted soon with an upcoming update.
Increased Drop Rates in Wrath Classic Dungeons
The increased drop rates in Wrath Classic Dungeons, as outlined previously, will persist throughout the Cataclysm pre-patch and potentially beyond.
