After many requests, Starfield players finally received the Rev-8, a land vehicle that makes planet exploration enjoyable. However, the community quickly wondered if it could be improved. As with any Bethesda game feature, modders soon began enhancing the space buggy, adding optimizations and improvements. These tweaks aren’t needed to enjoy the ride, but they make it more comfortable.

A creator named Shadedness posted the “Shade’s Vehicle Tuner” mod on Nexus Mods, adding new features to the Rev-8. The mod includes new weapons, increased damage, and extra cargo storage, while also fixing bugs that troubled drivers. A notable feature is that the weapon damage increases with the player’s level, preventing the Rev-8 from overpowering tough enemies early on.
Enhanced Storage and Exploration
Players will be happy to know that “Shade’s Vehicle Tuner” adds practical expanded cargo storage. It allows the storage capacity to be set at either 250KG or 500KG, making resource gathering more efficient. To simplify travel, the mod also includes a summoning tool that brings the vehicle back to the player, eliminating the need to search for it after getting lost in a large area. Every setting can be adjusted, giving users full control over their experience.
The addition of the Rev-8 to Starfield was a big moment for the community. Players had been asking for faster planet exploration since the game launched. While it doesn’t solve the problem of empty worlds, it does save players from slow, tedious wandering. It’s uncertain if more land vehicles will be added in future updates, but many hope Bethesda will create new versions of the Rev-8.
Starfield players eager for new content won’t have to wait long. The game’s first expansion, Shattered Space, is set to release on September 30, focusing on cosmic horror and House Va’ruun mysteries. Another paid DLC is rumored to be in development, but Bethesda has not confirmed these reports.
