As of December 15, 2024, Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be available for purchase. It will be removed from both the Microsoft Store (Xbox and PC) and Steam. The paid content for the racing game has already been removed. Those interested can choose between the standard version and the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, which contain some of the extras.

The Microsoft-owned developer studio, Playground Games, explains the sales stop in the company blog, citing expiring “licenses and agreements with our partners.” This could involve contracts with car manufacturers or other brand owners, although this has not been confirmed.
Even after the sales stop, Forza Horizon 4 will still be usable without restrictions in offline, online, and multiplayer modes. According to Playground Games, this applies to both copies purchased online and disc versions.
This makes Microsoft’s approach fundamentally different from how Ubisoft treats buyers of The Crew. The racing game became unplayable at the end of March 2024 when the servers were shut down, sparking protests from players, consumer advocates, and even political initiatives.
Forza Horizon 4 And Racing Fun in Open Britain
In the company blog, Playground Games discusses further activities related to Forza Horizon 4 and special cases, such as handling paid content for the version in the Game Pass gaming subscription.
Forza Horizon 4 was released in 2018 and is available for Windows PC, Xbox One, and Series X/S. The game takes racing players to a mostly open-world miniature version of Great Britain, where they can participate in races and many other activities. A special feature is the seasons, which have a significant impact on the gameplay.
