OpenAI is expanding its horizons with the launch of the ‘GPT Store,’ an online marketplace offering modified versions of its AI. This move was previously announced during OpenAI’s DevDay event. OpenAI officially rolled out the ‘GPT Store,’ initially catering to users with ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, and Teams subscriptions. OpenAI made the recent announcement through a blog post on its official website. Since the store’s introduction, users have generated over 3 million modified versions of ChatGPT. These adaptations can now be explored, with access granted through ChatGPT Plus – the premium subscription available at $20 per month.
Developed by both independent users and official collaborators, these modified versions of OpenAI’s chatbot form a diverse collection within the store. Users can seamlessly interact with a variety of GPTs, each serving a unique purpose.
In addition to the expansive collection, OpenAI provides weekly recommendations within the store. This curated list assists users in discovering and utilizing specific GPTs without the need for extensive searching. Noteworthy recommendations highlighted by OpenAI include GPTs like ‘Alltrails,’ suggesting personalized hiking routes; ‘Consensus,’ aiding in the search and synthesis of results from over 200 million academic articles; and ‘Code Tutor,’ designed to enhance programming knowledge and skills.
The store is not the only significant aspect, as OpenAI encourages users to create their own custom GPT. The ‘Create a GPT’ feature is currently exclusive to ChatGPT Plus members, allowing subscribers to tailor models based on their parameters.
Furthermore, OpenAI has plans to launch a program enabling creators to generate economic revenue through their GPT creations. The company anticipates rolling out this program in the first quarter of the year, promising more details to come.
This initiative to create new GPTs marks OpenAI’s strategy to broaden the impact of ChatGPT. The product has already disrupted the tech industry by facilitating the use of chatbots with natural language responses and high-level capabilities.
