Activision has adjusted the prices of several games on Steam, surprising many players. Titles from the Call of Duty franchise and other older releases saw significant increases.

Last week, Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision for $68.7 billion after 20 months of regulatory battles. However, the price increases don’t seem to have a direct connection with the deal’s conclusion.

On Valve’s platform, some Activision titles more than doubled in price, like Call of Duty: Black Ops, which went from $USD 14.99 to $USD 29.99.

Other titles had more modest increases, such as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which went up to $24.99 USD. Price tracking data on SteamDB shows that the increase occurred unexpectedly for users.

Here are some of the games that saw their prices adjusted:

  • Call of Duty (2003): $USD 9.99
  • Call of Duty 2: $USD 9.99
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops: $USD 19.99
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II: $USD 29.99
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009): $USD 14.99
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (new): $USD 21.99
  • King Quest Collection: $USD 12.99
  • Crash Bandicoot 4: $USD 39.99
  • Timeshift: $ USD 9.99
  • Prototype: $ USD 14.99
  • Gun: from $ USD 9.99

Activision has not commented on the price increases on Steam, but it is common for Valve’s platform to occasionally adjust game prices.
