Adobe has introduced new AI assistants across its Creative Cloud tools. The company added an assistant mode to Express and a sidebar assistant to Photoshop. The new features aim to make image creation and routine editing faster and easier for makers and small teams.
New assistant modes
In Express, Adobe built a mode that lets users work with text prompts to generate or reshape images and layouts without leaving the simplified editor. The mode sits alongside the familiar editing tools so users can switch between creative prompts and manual controls. Adobe said this approach is meant to help students and professionals finish a design without repeated context switching.
Photoshop now has a sidebar assistant in closed beta. The assistant can read the document structure and suggest edits that span layers. Adobe described the tool as able to select objects, create masks, and run common repeatable tasks such as background removal and color adjustments. Adobe is testing the assistant with users before a wider release.
How it helps
Adobe said it is testing ways for multiple assistants to work together across apps. One early idea is an orchestration layer that can carry a creator style across projects and link to social channels to learn a creator profile. The project is in private testing and may expand over time. Adobe also opened options for users to choose external models for generative fill and related features in its professional apps.
Adobe added updates for video workflows as well. The company also came up with advanced AI object masks in Premiere that allow editors to rectify and differentiate individuals or objects and affect them faster. These are added to the larger trend on Adobe to open up generative tools to creators of varying levels of skill.
Adobe indicated that it would continue experimenting and perfecting these assistants and would add features to product levels and betas according to user feedback and safety checks. The company also announced that it is working on integrations that allow users to initiate design processes based on external chat applications.
