Microsoft’s cloud revenue continues its remarkable growth. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, Azure and other cloud services grew 39 percent year-over-year. This surge pushed Azure’s annual revenue past seventy-five billion dollars, up 34 percent from the prior year. Satya Nadella, the company CEO, cited solid demand in the enterprise workloads and AI-first cloud infrastructure, leading to the performance.

The company had a Q2 revenue of seventy-six point four billion and a net income of twenty-seven point two billion dollars. The revenue increased by 18 percent as compared to the same period last year, and the net income increased by 24 percent. These figures were above analysts’ expectations, but they showed that Microsoft has a diversified business model.

Windows OEM and Devices Revenue

Windows OEM and device licensing revenue climbed 3 percent year-over-year. Business customers refreshed PCs ahead of Windows 10 support ending in October and leveraged new Windows 11 features. Gartner reported a four percent rise in PC shipments last quarter, driven by this upgrade cycle. Microsoft has combined Windows and devices revenue in its reporting, making it difficult to isolate Surface performance. CFO Amy Hood warned that Windows OEM and device revenue may decline mid to high single digits next quarter.

Xbox Content and Services Growth

Gaming content and services revenue, which includes Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, rose 13 percent for the quarter. Nadella highlighted record engagement with Xbox titles and Game Pass annual revenue surpassing five billion dollars. Microsoft now reports five hundred million monthly active users across all gaming platforms. The company also extended its “Xbox Everywhere” strategy by bringing six of the ten top-selling PlayStation games this quarter, including Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Xbox Hardware Challenges

Hardware revenue slid 22 percent as fewer consoles were sold compared to the prior year. Microsoft raised console and controller prices in May, with the Series X rising to five hundred ninety-nine ninety-nine. For the full fiscal year, hardware revenue declined 25 percent. Microsoft will showcase its upcoming Ally handheld devices and title demos at Gamescom next month.

Microsoft 365 and LinkedIn Performance

Microsoft 365 commercial cloud revenue grew 18 percent, boosted by higher revenue per user and Copilot license uptake. Consumer Microsoft 365 subscriptions increased 8 percent to eighty-nine million following price adjustments. LinkedIn revenue rose 9 percent with record engagement on the platform, reflecting strong growth in professional networking.

Search and Advertising Revenue

Search and news advertising revenue climbed 21 percent year-over-year after Microsoft integrated AI features into Bing. The company reported higher search volume and revenue per search, contributing to a thirteen percent increase in overall search advertising revenues.

AI Infrastructure Investment

In the coming quarter, Microsoft will spend more than thirty billion dollars to scale its AI base. Nadella observed that all of the Azure regions are now liquid-cooled and optimized to run AI. Such investments will carry forth with the drive at Microsoft to dominate enterprise AI services.

During the initial quarter of the fiscal year 2026, Microsoft is expected to experience a decline in revenue in Windows OEM, as well as devices that is moderate and high single-digit revenue and also in revenues in game revenue. A steady growth in the service of offices and clouds should also be expected due to the continued commercial and consumer usage of the Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
