Google has extended its Veo 3 AI video model to the Gemini app so users can now upload a photo and receive a dynamic video clip with native audio in return. The option appears under Videos in the prompt menu. After selecting it, the user picks an image, then adds a description of any motion or sound they wish to hear. The system returns a short eight-second video that can be downloaded or shared directly.
User Access and Limits
At launch, only subscribers to Google AI Ultra and Pro plans can generate videos in Gemini. Each user has a daily limit of three creations that does not roll over to the next day. Google has already added Flow users to the Veo 3 roster, and they enjoy higher quotas under that filmmaking tool. In total, more than 150 countries now have access to the feature.
How Veo 3 Creates Videos
Veo 3 is unique in that it generates audio and video as native aspects. The model comprehends physics and scene background in such a way that objects act realistically and sound effects are as expected to the action. For example, a picture of the waves crashing can turn into a moving image with the sound of the waves moving. The AI also adds ambient noise or dialogue when prompted.
Ensuring Responsible Use
Every video generated by Veo 3 carries a visible watermark reading Veo and an invisible SynthID digital marker. Google introduced SynthID earlier this year and has also released a detection tool that helps identify AI-created media. These steps aim to combat deepfakes and misinformation by making AI outputs traceable.
Google’s move brings powerful video creation tools directly into the Gemini chat environment. As users explore new ways to animate memories or ideas, care will be needed to guard against misuse.
