It’s official: Red Dead Redemption is getting its long-awaited PC version, which will be available starting this month. Rockstar Games has announced that this iconic game finally has a computer version, something fans have been requesting for years.

Those who want to play Red Dead Redemption on their PC won’t have to wait long. The game will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Store starting Tuesday, October 29. This week, the company will also announce when pre-orders will open on the different platforms.
It’s important to note that this PC version includes not only the original game but also the Undead Nightmare DLC, which combines the western genre with a zombie apocalypse. However, Rockstar has not yet confirmed the price for Red Dead Redemption on computers. The studio is likely trying to avoid a controversy similar to the one in 2023, when it announced the versions for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
At that time, the company faced significant criticism for charging $49.99 for ports that had almost no improvements over the versions released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Take-Two Interactive defended this price, arguing that it was fair considering that Undead Nightmare was originally released as a standalone game separate from the main series.
It remains to be seen if history will repeat itself with Red Dead Redemption on PC. This question will be answered in just a few days.
Red Dead Redemption Improvements for PC
As with the PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions, Double Eleven is responsible for developing the PC variant of Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar Games has stated that the game features several notable improvements specifically for computers, particularly in the graphics department.
In this regard, the studio has stated that Red Dead Redemption offers a native resolution of 4K and supports refresh rates of up to 144 Hz on compatible displays. It also includes support for HDR10 technology and is compatible with monitors featuring an aspect ratio of 21:9 (Ultrawide) and 32:9 (Super Ultrawide).
Regarding graphics, Red Dead Redemption for PC will utilize some of the most popular scaling and frame generation technologies available today. This includes NVIDIA’s DLSS 3.7 and DLSS Frame Generation, as well as AMD’s FX Super Resolution 3.0. Players will also have the option to adjust shadow quality and several other settings.
