Pondicherry, a city located in the southeastern region of India, has recently become the host of Lenovo Group Ltd.’s production of artificial intelligence (AI) servers. This development serves the purpose of being a significant advancement for India to become a hub for high-tech manufacturing. AI-equipped servers as Lenovo’s new product line is a step more than the product portfolio they have previously offered like laptops and smartphones. It is also proposed to open up another facility in the Bangalore region that is a research laboratory of Artificial Intelligence.
Lenovo’s $1 Billion Global Investment
Lenovo also aims to target this market as a part of its overall strategic change given the expected demand for AI-integrated PCs and devices. In the following two years, the company aims to invest a huge sum of $1 billion in research on artificial intelligence along with the development of new tabs on a global level. This will cover all the AI platforms and computing devices, across the broad range of possible levels. Speaking about this investment, Amar Babu, Lenovo’s Asia-Pacific president, noted that the move is instrumental in enhancing its AI prowess across the regions.

Lenovo is currently building new servers for AI where the heavy calculations needed for running such services as generative AI in existence today thanks to programs like ChatGPT will be provided.
