The hardware with the distinctive center stripes is almost certainly the PlayStation 5 Pro. The graphic, published by Sony Germany on the X platform, is part of the celebration for the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation.
Sony has not yet provided any details about the console. Rumors suggest it might be released next week, on Tuesday or Wednesday, but there has been no official announcement of a State of Play or similar event.
Alternatively, the announcement could come a bit later, on September 26, 2024, when Ken Kutaragi—often called the father of the PlayStation—will deliver a keynote speech at the Tokyo Game Show.
PlayStation 5 Pro: Leaked Details About the Technology
The PS5 Pro, developed by Sony under the project name Trinity, is expected to feature a new GPU combining elements of AMD’s RDNA 3 and RDNA 4. The console’s CPU is anticipated to have a boost mode running at 3.85 GHz, compared to the standard 3.5 GHz of the current model, and it will offer around 13.7 GB of RAM for games, up from 12.5 GB. Recent leaks suggest that the release may occur before the end of 2024.
