Battlefield 6 will add a new tool that can shift how teams fight for buildings and roofs. Developers have shown the Assault Ladder in action, and the clips suggest this tool will let players grab high ground quickly while still fighting.
The feature was highlighted after the open beta ended, and it was not available in the test weekends. A short video from the official Battlefield X account shows two ways to use the ladder and how each affects combat and movement.
How the Ladder
The ladder can be placed by the Assault class and used in two clear modes. One mode is a steep placement that makes players climb slowly while their weapon is not ready. The other mode is a flatter placement that lets players run up the ladder while keeping their gun ready to fire. The running mode is the one that stands out. Players can sprint up and shoot at enemies from the ladder as they rise to the next level. The slow climb looks safer for stealth or for getting through tight openings. The sprint climb looks like a strong offensive option.
The ladder also works with the map geometry. Players can place it quickly against walls or ledges and then move to windows and roof access points. That allows fast flanking moves and surprise pushes from unexpected directions. The developers have tested the animation and the transition from ladder to ledge so that players slide smoothly into a rooftop combat stance. The video shows the placement, the two climb speeds, and how weapon handling changes between them.
Why It Matters
This ladder will change level tactics and class roles. Assault players will be able to reach high ground without using vehicles or finding stairwells. That reduces choke points and makes vertical play more common. Teams will need to watch roofs and windows more closely. Map designers will need to balance where ladders work and how often they appear so that one team cannot dominate a location constantly.
The ladder also introduces new counters and choices. Players may add more cover at roof edges, place traps, or use smoke to block ladder runs.
