Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivered record-breaking success for Ubisoft following its game launch. The game reached unprecedented first-day sales numbers once it was released in Feudal Japan. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, in 2020, remained the sole game that achieved higher sales than Shadows. Players embrace stylish samurai combat together with stealth missions and a splendid game environment.

Ubisoft says over 2 million players started the game in the first few days. Players are spending more time in Shadows than in older Assassin’s Creed games. Reviews are mostly positive, especially on sites where people cannot fake ratings.

PlayStation and Steam Players Love the Game

Shadows broke Ubisoft’s record for best Day 1 sales on PlayStation. It became the second most-played game on PlayStation in the U.S. right after launch. On Steam, the game beat Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by having over 64,000 players online at the same time.

About 27% of players are on PC, and Steam is a big reason why. This is the first time Ubisoft has launched a major game on Steam on Day 1 since 2019.

Delays Made the Game Better

Shadows was supposed to come out in November 2024. But Ubisoft delayed it twice—first to February 2025, then to March 20. The company said it needed more time to listen to players and fix problems.

The extra months helped. Ubisoft fixed bugs, improved the open world, and added features that fans wanted. Players say the wait was worth it.

Why This Success Matters for Ubisoft

Ubisoft has had a tough few years. Games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora did not sell well, and the company lost money. Its stock price dropped 40% in 2024. But Shadows is changing things.

The game’s success is a big win. It shows fans still love Assassin’s Creed and trust Ubisoft to make great games. The company is now working with Tencent, a Chinese tech giant, to manage its big game series like Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed.

Feudal Japan Wins Over Fans

Shadows takes players to 16th-century Japan. You can play as a samurai or a ninja, explore castles, and fight in huge battles. Fans say the world feels alive, with changing seasons and smart enemies.

Twitch and YouTube Love It Too

Over 11 million hours of Shadows have been watched on Twitch. Streamers and YouTubers are making videos about the game’s secrets and boss fights. This game holds the title as the most wish-listed Ubisoft title across the entire Steam platform.

What’s Next for Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft maintains strict silence regarding plans to release the next Assassin’s Creed game title. The video game Shadows indicates that Assassin’s Creed continues to assert its position as a leading force in the video game sector. Audiences anticipate the future course of the franchise because it combines historical elements with defensive play and stealth mechanics.

The present gamer immersion focuses on Feudal Japan as they learn swordsmanship and investigate plot secrets. The game proves suitable for both existing fans of the series and new players to enjoy.
