An alleged artwork of Assassin’s Creed Red has surfaced on the LinkedIn profile of one of the game’s writers. The image, which is still available on Pierre Boudreau’s profile, appears to depict the character that the player will control in Assassin’s Creed Red. The woman is shown in front of a Japanese castle, wearing the hood that has become a trademark of the franchise.

If the image is legitimate, it is the first significant material from Assassin’s Creed Red since Ubisoft released the teaser confirming that the title was in production and would be released next year. In September of last year, Ubisoft unveiled a roadmap for the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, with Red being one of the six upcoming games set to be released in the coming years.

The two major games following the recently launched Assassin’s Creed Mirage have codenames Red and Hexe. They will be part of a new hub in the franchise, called Infinity, the new game-as-a-service initiative announced in 2021. Assassin’s Creed is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and has the same creative director as Odyssey. According to Ubisoft, the game will mark the “third period” in the franchise, which has sold over 200 million copies since its release in 2007.

A few months ago, journalist Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming claimed that the game would feature two playable characters: a samurai and an African refugee who joins the Brotherhood of Assassins, becoming a ninja.
