Leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra Design Change Shows Up on Dummy Unit

Excitement is building around the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and recent leaks have given us a sneak peek at what to expect. A photo of an aluminum dummy model of the Galaxy S25 Ultra was published by Online Solitaire and XLeaks7, offering a glimpse of the design changes in store. The rounded corners, which depart from the sharp, squared-off edges that have been a staple of previous Galaxy S Ultra models

This design shift wasn’t a complete surprise, though. Leaker Ice Universe had hinted at it back in June, suggesting the Galaxy S25 Ultra would feature rounded edges. Now, the leaked dummy model seems to confirm those rumors. The front of the dummy also reveals thinner bezels, with a centered punch-hole camera at the top of the display. Above the screen, a speaker is visible, while the rear camera layout looks very familiar, resembling the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s design.

The camera system on the back consists of three vertically mounted lenses along the left side, with two smaller lenses positioned vertically on the right. Measuring 162.82 mm x 77.65 mm x 8.25 mm, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is slightly taller, narrower, and thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which measures 162.3 mm x 79 mm x 8.6 mm. These minor changes in dimensions might not seem like a big deal, but they contribute to a sleeker, more streamlined design overall.

We can expect the Galaxy S25 Ultra, along with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+, to be unveiled early next year, possibly during CES 2025 in January. But it’s not just the design that’s turning heads the Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to be a powerhouse in terms of performance, thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 application processor (AP). This will be the first Snapdragon chip to be manufactured using a 3nm process node, specifically TSMC’s second-generation 3nm node (N3E).

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will also come with the Adreno 830 GPU, which promises a major leap in performance. Benchmarks have shown that the Adreno 830 offers 43% to 56% higher performance than the Adreno 740, which powers the Galaxy S24 Ultra. That’s a significant upgrade, especially for gamers and users who demand high performance from their phones. However, with great power comes a higher price tag. Qualcomm’s new flagship processor uses custom CPU cores rather than those licensed from ARM, and this switch is expected to drive up costs. Samsung may either absorb this additional expense or pass it on to consumers.

Rumors also suggest that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will offer a model with 16GB of RAM, which is no surprise considering Samsung’s advancements in mobile memory technology. The company has been producing thinner memory chips designed for on-device AI functionality, and these chips are available in 12GB and 16GB capacities. This means that we could see Galaxy S25 Ultra variants with both 12GB and 16GB of memory, offering users flexibility depending on their needs.

Although we’re still months away from the official unveiling, there’s plenty of buzz around the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and for good reason. Beyond the rounded corners and refined design, the device is shaping up to be a serious contender in the flagship phone market. The shift towards a more iPhone-like design, with smoother, more comfortable curves, could appeal to a broader audience, especially those who found the sharper edges of previous Galaxy S Ultra models less comfortable.

However, design and performance leaks only tell part of the story. While the dummy units give us a good idea of the phone’s appearance, they don’t provide much insight into how the Galaxy S25 Ultra will perform in real-world usage. Recent Geekbench leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip allows the Galaxy S25 Ultra to hold its own against the iPhone 16 Pro, which is an exciting prospect. But until we get our hands on the real thing, it’s hard to say for certain how Samsung’s next flagship will measure up.
