A Starfield enthusiast has astounded the game’s fan base by creating a stunning real-life Digipick replica, impressing many with its level of detail. Starfield’s lock-picking mechanic, though flawed according to some, remains one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game, inspiring fans to bring these in-game tools into reality. The fan’s replica, created using 3D printing, quickly became a topic of discussion due to its surprising size and impressive build quality.

Posted on Reddit, this black-and-orange Digipick was crafted using a combination of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and PETG (a type of Polyethylene Terephthalate). The creator used a Bambu Lab P1S 3D printer to manufacture the replica, a process that fans found both intriguing and highly detailed. The post quickly garnered attention, with the original poster humorously captioning it, “Forget your 12-digit password at work… No problem.”

While fans admired the craftsmanship, there were some comments regarding the size of the Digipick compared to its in-game counterpart. Some noted that, based on its in-game appearance, the replica should have been smaller. Despite the minor debate about the size, most fans were impressed by the quality and accuracy of the replica, further sparking interest in creating more real-life Starfield tools. It is reported, this Digipick replica even led to discussions about including functional clips and hinges in future builds.

Starfield Lockpicking: Real and Virtual

The Digipick system in Starfield is a favorite among fans for its blend of strategy and satisfaction. While not without flaws, many players argue that it surpasses the lockpicking systems of Bethesda’s previous games, like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In Starfield, Digipicks are essential tools for space explorers, used to unlock doors, containers, and computers scattered across the galaxy. The size of the Digipick in-game is unclear, as it is seen fitting in the protagonist’s hand, leading some fans to debate whether a character could carry over 100 of them if they were as large as the real-life replica.

This real-life Digipick adds to the long list of fan-made replicas that continue to bring elements of video games into the physical world. The creator shared that they plan to make the next version of the Digipick even more functional, by adding clips and hinges that mimic its in-game mechanics.

Starfield on PS5: A Hypothetical Advantage

While fans are still buzzing about the Digipick replica, Starfield players are also discussing potential advantages the game could have if it is ever ported to the PlayStation 5. It is reported, PlayStation users are hopeful that Microsoft’s recent trend of releasing previously exclusive Xbox titles on PS5 could include Starfield. If this happens, many fans believe that the PS5’s DualSense controller would significantly enhance the gaming experience, especially in combat and exploration.

The PS5’s adaptive triggers would bring more depth to Starfield’s combat, adding resistance when pulling the trigger, making the shooting mechanics feel more immersive. This feature has already been praised in other FPS games, like Call of Duty and Cyberpunk 2077, and would be a perfect fit for Starfield, where gunplay is a key element of gameplay. Coupled with the PS5’s haptic feedback system, which allows for more precise vibrations during actions like flying or driving, a PS5 version of Starfield could provide a more immersive experience than the Xbox Series X/S version.

Haptic Feedback for Total Immersion

The PS5’s haptic feedback is another exciting feature that could give Starfield an edge on the PlayStation platform. Unlike traditional rumble motors, haptic feedback uses dual actuators to create more dynamic and nuanced vibrations. This technology could heighten the experience of piloting spacecraft, using a jetpack, or even racing across planets, making every action feel more responsive. While the Xbox Series X/S controller also offers haptic feedback, it’s generally seen as less advanced than what the DualSense controller can achieve. This could give PlayStation players a slight advantage in terms of immersion, though Starfield will remain a great experience on any platform. The PS5’s additional features are nice to have but not game-changers. As always, Starfield’s core gameplay, story, and exploration will keep players engaged, regardless of which console they use.
