If his companies keep growing at their current rate, Elon Musk could become the first person in the world to have a fortune of one trillion US dollars. This is according to an analysis by the Informa Connect Academy, which is part of the British scientific publisher Informa.

If the average growth rate of nearly 110 percent in company values continues over the next few years, Musk could make the jump from multi-billionaire to trillionaire by 2027.

By the end of the decade, several other entrepreneurs might join Musk in the exclusive billionaire club. According to Informa, these could include Indian entrepreneur Gautam Adani, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Indonesian entrepreneur Prajogo Pangestu by 2028. By 2030, Bernard Arnault (LVMH), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), and Philip Knight (Nike) might also reach this milestone.
However, Musk’s rise to billionaire status depends on the increasing share prices of Tesla, the electric car manufacturer, and SpaceX, the space company. Informa estimates the combined value of all Musk’s companies, including the social media platform X, at 1.195 billion US dollars.
The billionaire index from Bloomberg currently estimates Elon Musk’s fortune at 237 billion US dollars, placing him ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has 195 billion US dollars.
If Informa’s estimate proves accurate, it will have taken more than 100 years for the world’s first dollar billionaire to be followed by the world’s first dollar trillionaire. According to NBC, American John D. Rockefeller became a billionaire during World War I due to the rising share price of his oil company, Standard Oil. In the Weimar Republic, hyperinflation in 1923 unintentionally made many Germans billionaires and even quadrillionaires.
