Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC will release on September 30. It takes players to the home of House Va’ruun. Players will get involved in Va’ruun’kai politics and learn about the Great Serpent’s myths. They will explore a custom-designed planet with a unique horror theme. The Shattered Space DLC has a stronger horror feel than the main game. A recent Gamescom presentation showed that there is more to the DLC beyond just horror elements.

Starfield’s Quest for Knowledge
Starfield’s main focus has always been exploring the galaxy and seeking knowledge among the stars. However, most people in the universe have given up on this quest. Only Constellation continues to seek knowledge. This leads players to The Unity, where they learn about the Starborn, the multiverse, and their own reality. Even though they are smaller, the factions in Starfield also focus on this search for knowledge.
In Starfield’s United Colonies questline, players investigate the Terrormorph attacks and try to understand what Terrormorphs are and who Vae Victis (Francoise Sanon) is. The Crimson Fleet questline involves players in a conflict between the pirates and UC SysDef, while they uncover Kryx’s Legacy. Ryujin Industries focuses on megacorps and the search for Project Dominion. The Freestar Collective questline looks into a conspiracy involving The First and Ron Hope. Each questline approaches the search for knowledge differently, but Starfield’s Shattered Space adds a horror twist to this theme.
Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC Turns the Search for Knowledge Upside Down
Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC brings a lot of new content. Players will arrive in Va’ruun’kai and get caught up in a power struggle among different factions within House Va’ruun. The player’s role is directly connected to The Great Serpent. House Va’ruun is one of Starfield’s biggest mysteries. The story and gameplay will explore their strange religion and practices. As players sneak, fight, and face surprises, the mystery will keep them engaged. Shattered Space focuses on what happens when the search for knowledge goes wrong.
It seems that the trouble might come from House Va’ruun itself, not the player’s search for knowledge. The planet’s bleak state and the struggle for power or religion could be factors. The horror elements add a twist, making it the opposite of Starfield’s Constellation, which had a pure quest for knowledge. In Shattered Space, the search for knowledge has clearly gone horribly wrong.
This new direction is a refreshing change from other questlines. It shows a new way for Starfield to explore its themes. With more content planned for Year 2, players will soon uncover more about House Va’ruun. While the discoveries might not be good for Va’ruun’kai, they will be exciting for Starfield fans.
