When a pre-patch for a new WoW expansion is released, fans can expect not only new content and reworked class talents but also the simplification of old content. The update for The War Within, which went live on July 24, 2024, follows this pattern.
In addition to a significant increase in character stats, which represents a major content nerf for Dragonflight, the developers have also made another change to ease players’ journeys on the Dragon Isles.
Scout Achievement Canceled, But Fans Are Upset About Ability
From now on, you no longer need the Pathfinder achievement to use static flying alongside sky riding on the Dragon Isles. Previously, to use normal (old) flying in the Dragonflight areas in addition to dragon riding, you had to complete the corresponding meta-achievement. With the release of the pre-patch, this requirement has been removed.
With patch 11.0.0, the developers have made static flying available on the Dragon Isles for all players in World of Warcraft. Whether you are new to WoW with The War Within, returning to WoW, or simply missed completing the Dragonflight Pathfinder achievement, you no longer need to worry about it. You can now use the “Change Flight Style” option to switch freely between static flying and sky riding without any restrictions.

However, the new “Change Flight Style” ability has sparked debate within the WoW community. Some fans are frustrated by the additional five seconds of casting time required to switch between sky riding and static flying.
