Remember when Blizzard razed Teldrassil and Darnassus? Or when Azeroth faced destruction in the Cataclysm? Now, they’re at it again in ‘The War Within’. Spoiler Alert: Avoid reading if you don’t want quest details!
The latest expansion of World of Warcraft, ‘The War Within’, brings significant changes. These include numerous new features, possible allied races, XP adjustments, and more. The new hero talents are also sparking discussions, and we’re certainly excited about them!
Besides the gaming adjustments, the World of Warcraft development team has also made a significant change elsewhere. They’re demolishing a popular city, and there’s no stopping it.
In ‘The War Within,’ you must trust in Dalaran, a familiar hub from previous Warcraft games like ‘Wrath of the Lich King’ and ‘Legion.’ But now, its time has come: the flying fortress will crash, leaving destruction in its wake.

And why the destruction? Is it due to air traffic issues? Unsightly architecture and aging sewage pipes (which, hopefully, will be magically disposed of)? Not quite! According to Maria Hamilton, lead game designer at Blizzard, the decision to destroy Dalaran is a strategic move to heighten the threat in ‘The War Within’.
The city has played a pivotal role in foiling the plans of adversaries like the Lich King and the Legion before. Their destruction aims to significantly weaken Azeroth. It’s a ruthless tactic to strip you of a crucial asset in the battle against Azeroth’s enemies. How cruel! In the opening quests of the expansion, you awaken on Dorn Island’s beach, amidst the ruins of Dalaran. Brace yourself for what lies ahead!
