After Bethesda’s Chief, Todd Howard, stated that Starfield boasts over 1,000 planets spread across more than 100 systems, the question lingered whether it would truly be possible to explore each one. One month after its release, someone has managed to do just that. Josh, known as DoomZero on Reddit, shared his achievement with a photo as proof that he explored every single planet in Starfield. In total, he visited 120 systems, scanned 1,695 planets, fully researched 1,694, and landed on 1,441 planets.

Starfield encompasses various types of planets, with some being gas giants that can be explored entirely from space since landing on them is not possible. Most moons offer few resources to scan, while there are planets with flora, fauna, points of interest, and resources that need to be scanned for exploration to be considered complete. There are no shortcuts, making it a rather time-consuming process.

DoomZero told IGN that he played Starfield for approximately 200 hours, with 180 hours dedicated solely to exploring and researching the planets. This means he spent an average of six and a half hours playing each day, seven days a week, for an entire month without a break.

“I did some main missions to kick off the game and some optional activities along the way, but it was mostly about researching the planets,” DoomZero explains. “When I finished researching the galaxy, I was at level 130.”

Although DoomZero researched all the possible planets in Starfield, he noticed that there were some he couldn’t fully research, apparently due to bugs. He encountered three planets in this situation. Two of them (Masada III and Beta Marae I) are impossible to fully research, while the other (Charybdis II) can be done using quicksave and quickload to make the flying fauna appear. Without this trick, it remains invisible, making it impossible to scan.

Speaking more about the other two bugged planets, in Masada III, there’s an oceanic biome that apparently doesn’t appear, while Beta Marae I has fauna that doesn’t spawn. It’s expected that Bethesda will address these issues in the future.
