A practical innovation is set to arrive on Android smartphones, likely later this year, which aims to simplify many processes.Google regularly introduces new features to Android smartphones through updates. However, these updates often consist of minor innovations, bug fixes, or improvements. With “Link Your Device,” one of the best innovations in recent years seems to be on its way.

What exactly is this about? “Link Your Device” is intended to allow users to create a group of devices, such as a phone and a tablet. Previous leaks have already suggested that this could enable actions like transferring a call from one mobile device to another or sharing Wi-Fi with other Android devices or a Chromebook.

Android: Additional innovations that “Link Your Device” is expected soon

According to well-known leaker Mishaal Raman on X (formerly Twitter), this feature is expected to support several more practical functions.

Android's "Link Your Devices" settings may also add "instant hotspot" and "automatically share Wi-Fi" features, in addition to the previously spotted "call switching" and "Internet sharing" features.

For instance, the smartphone within the connected device group could be used as an “Instant Hotspot.” For example, if one is carrying both a tablet and a phone, the phone’s hotspot could be used for the tablet.

Equally practical, “Link Your Device” is said to support “Automatically Share Wi-Fi.” This means that when the connected devices are nearby, they can automatically connect to Wi-Fi without requiring the password to be entered each time. According to reports, “Link Your Device” is expected to be available for select Android devices later this year.”
