Night City Connected? Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel May Include Multiplayer Mode

In a recent interview with Reuters, Michal Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt RED, dropped a hint about the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. He suggested that the upcoming game could incorporate multiplayer elements, creating an opportunity for players to fully engage in a seamlessly connected gaming experience.

Nowakowski, alongside Adam Badowski, the CEO of the company, disclosed this intriguing detail about the game known by the codename Orion. By the end of 2024, the project expects to have a dedicated team of around 80 individuals. This substantial workforce is set to redefine the boundaries of immersive gameplay.

Shifting Focus: The Witcher 4

The horizon holds the prospect of a multiplayer Cyberpunk sequel. However, CD Projekt RED’s current primary focus is firmly centered on the highly anticipated The Witcher 4. The company aims to assemble a robust team of 400 individuals by mid-2024 for this project. The gaming scene expects the latest addition to The Witcher franchise to hit in 2026 or 2027.

In November, Magda Zych, Senior Writer and Coordinator at CD Projekt RED, dropped a hint worth noting. She suggested that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 might take place in a setting distinct from Night City—the fictional supercapitalist metropolis featured in the original game. This potential shift opens up exciting possibilities for players to explore fresh environments and narratives.
