Cooling is one of the most crucial aspects of our Gaming PC setups, whether it’s a modest system for everyday tasks or a powerful gaming rig. Maintaining a controlled temperature is essential. There are various approaches to achieving this goal, each tailored to individual needs and budgets. Some opt for liquid cooling systems, while others rely on fans to ensure optimal airflow. However, it’s important to note that simply adding more fans doesn’t necessarily equate to better temperature control, as demonstrated by a Reddit user’s recent experiment with their PC.

More Than 20 Fans in a Gaming PC

Gaming rigs, as we know, tend to generate a significant amount of heat due to their high-powered components. To maximize the lifespan and performance of these systems, proper cooling is imperative, as FireNinja743 understands all too well. This Reddit user has a total of 22 fans in their gaming PC. As reported by our colleagues at 3D Juegos, they added over a dozen fans to those already included in certain components. While functional, the result caught the attention of the community, who didn’t hesitate to offer some observations on their creation.

Concerns and Recommendations

One user commented, ” think your PSU fans are backwards. Most PSU internal fans are set to blow out heat, your case fans might be fighting it.” Others expressed concern about the multitude of cables within FireNinja74’s Corsair 500D Airflow case, recommending either removing some fans or using shorter cables. While fans serve the purpose of cooling the computer, an excess of cables could ultimately hinder proper airflow. This is a crucial consideration. However, cable management isn’t the only potential issue with the Reddit user’s setup. As you might expect, noise is another concern.

“At night you can hear the metal moaning, bloated, twisted…. like a sinking submarine about to implode,” the user admits, expressing worry about their computer. Some users have suggested a simple solution: closing the case and forgetting about it. However, this may not be the most advisable alternative. It’s clear that striking a balance between cooling and noise reduction will be crucial for this gaming PC setup.
