Owners of iPhone 15 models have reported a serious overheating issue in recent weeks affecting Apple’s latest generation of smartphones. Some speculations suggested that the cause might be a potential incompatibility between the operating system and the Instagram application, while other sources pointed to design flaws.

It appears that the actual reason for the high temperature in iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max is a bug in iOS 17. This software, which had its stable version released by Apple a few days ago, is causing these devices to overheat. In a statement sent to Forbes, the manufacturer states:

“We have identified some conditions that can cause the iPhone to operate warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setup or restoration due to increased background activity,” confirming that they are aware of the issue.

In addition to this specific situation where overheating occurs, the Cupertino giant has also confirmed the existence of a flaw in iOS 17 that exacerbates overheating in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. The developer states that they are working on an update that will be released in the future to address this problem, but there is no estimated time of release.

“We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is affecting some users and will be resolved in a software update,” Apple stated. “Another issue involves some recent updates from third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We are working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of being deployed,” they concluded.
