Starfield is a sci-fi game where players explore space and uncover secrets of mysterious artifacts. Players have the freedom to choose where to explore, which factions to join, and what decisions to make. The game also offers a detailed character creator, allowing players to design their ideal character.

One interesting part of the character creator is the traits that affect events in Starfield. These traits are well-designed and encourage players to try different ones in new playthroughs. The next Starfield game must do something unique to improve on these traits.

How the Next Starfield Game Could Improve Traits

Starfield’s traits work well because they aren’t just surface-level; they impact the game and story. This makes choosing traits more meaningful for players. Future Starfield games should continue this, creating traits that are unique and deeply influence gameplay and plot.

Bethesda could innovate by making Starfield traits work together. For instance, the “Kid Stuff” and “Extrovert” traits could create a strong family bond, offering better rewards than other combinations. Players would need to experiment to find the best trait combinations.

Bethesda could also introduce new, exciting traits to keep things fresh. They could draw inspiration from other sci-fi stories. Additionally, they could expand on existing traits that weren’t fully explored, like the Serpent’s Embrace trait, which has only a loose connection to House Va’Ruun and doesn’t reveal much about the mysterious faction.

One interesting trait in Starfield is “Hero Worshipper.” It makes a fan follow the player, similar to the Adoring Fan from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. This adds a fun, nostalgic touch for long-time Bethesda fans and a new feature for newcomers. Another trait is “Kid Stuff,” which gives players parents they can visit, adding a personal touch to the cosmic story.

The wide range of traits in Starfield makes the game replayable. For example, players might choose “Serpent’s Embrace” for health and oxygen boosts, or decide if their character is an introvert or extrovert. Future games in the series will need to find ways to improve on these traits to match or exceed the original game.

You Can Change Traits in Starfield

Players can change their traits in Starfield after starting the game. For example, they can switch from being an introvert to an extrovert. This is useful if they decide they want to travel with companions instead of exploring alone.

Starfield is a great addition to Bethesda’s games and could last as long as franchises like The Elder Scrolls if the studio plans carefully. By focusing on traits, the game can stay fresh and interesting for both new and returning players.
