A WoW player on Reddit recently complained that the new Warband Bank is designed to make specific “unique” items simply disappear.
After being disabled due to several bugs when the World of Warcraft: The War Within pre-patch was released, the Warband Bank is now fully functional again with the weekly reset. This means you can store items and gold in it and then access them with all of your characters, regardless of which realm they are on.

However, as is often the case with pre-patches, the Warband Bank still has some bugs. A user recently warned on Reddit that the new bank occasionally causes items to simply disappear.
Warband Bank to Make Items Disappear
The bug is reported to occur when you place “unique” items—items of which you are allowed to own only 20—into the Warband Bank and then switch to a character who already has the same item in their inventory, thus exceeding the cap.
For example, user Icebane08 put 15 Expedition Explosives into their Warband Bank and then switched to a character who had ten of these charges in their inventory. After switching, there was no trace of the original 15 charges.
Another user mentioned buying an equipment box to send to one of their alts via the bank, but the box also disappeared after being placed in the bank. Fortunately, the items don’t seem to be lost forever.
As explained by other players in the thread, these unique items still belong to the character who originally deposited them. For instance, you cannot retrieve another unique item from the mailbox on the same character if you have already deposited one.
Therefore, while you won’t see these items on characters who already have copies in their inventory, they will appear normally on all other characters. In Icebane08’s case, it seems the user accidentally placed the second stack of bombs where the missing first stack was, which might have caused the issue.
We tried to reproduce the bug, but the game crashed on half of our characters, and the Warband Bank still doesn’t work on the other half. According to Reddit users, there’s no need to worry about the Warband Bank consuming your items. However, to be on the safe side, remember which slots you placed unique items in to avoid accidentally “overwriting” them.
