Rapport Defines Our Relationship With the Mercenary
In Diablo 4, managing and recruiting mercenaries is expected to be more complex compared to Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. A new currency called Pale Marks will play a significant role in this process. Pale Marks are used to purchase trade agreements, which can then be exchanged for mercenary equipment. Additionally, the tooltip suggests that Pale Marks can also be directly exchanged for items from traders.
There will also be a special area called the mercenary cave, which serves as a separate NPC instance. In this cave, we can buy trade agreements and conduct transactions using Pale Marks. We earn Pale Marks by completing various activities with our mercenary. Additionally, a rapport system will define our relationship with the mercenary. A higher rapport level will lead to better items, rewards, and an increased amount of Pale Marks.
