LG Electronics launched the latest aquatic of its Mobility Labworks Series, the futuristic Digital Cockpit, which will redefine modern in-car technology for today’s drivers. The third edition of this ambitious book showcases LG’s aspirational vision for autonomous driving and the use of advanced AI for mobility safety and convenience. The Digital Cockpit is designed as a “modular” system that provides a seamless environment for various automotive brand adaptations and ushers into a new era of infotainment and driver assistance.

AI-Powered Assistance for Safer Roads

Among the most interesting in LG’s Digital Cockpit is the driver fatigue detection system relies on the power of its advanced AI-based virtual assistant that can recommend switching to its autonomous mode when the driver appears tired. The AI takes safety a step further and is even able to navigate to a nearby coffee shop and order and pay for a coffee through the screen’s fingerprint recognition sensor. These features are created to keep drivers alert ensuring safe drives.

OLED Screens Transforming the In-Car Experience

This innovative cockpit features a central 12.3-inch Transparent OLED screen featuring real-time navigation, speed, and points of interest to bring passengers the life-saving information they need right then and there. Inside, the system includes a 14.2-inch retractable Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display in the center of the console that can be flipped in and stowed away while not in use, creating a clean, clutter-free interior.

LG’s Digital Cockpit goes one further toward hands-free driving, as a modern curved OLED touch-sensitive display is built into the steering wheel. Drivers using this setup can operate key functions like navigation and climate systems, or function as a multimedia hub when the car is in autonomous mode. They demonstrate LG’s consistent commitment to human-machine interaction with ergonomic design and visual clarity, and more broadly, today’s trend towards more digital products.

Entertainment Hub for Rear Passengers

LG’s Digital Cockpit not only delivers high-end infotainment to drivers but also to passengers. Seamless Entertainment’s Connectivity & Content Solution for the back seat turns the back seat into an interactive entertainment hub with three display screens, powered by LG’s webOS platform. Included in LG’s design is a high-definition display console mounted on an armrest or a wraparound screen that floats above the passenger seats, for the use of rear seat passengers, displaying movies, games, or music. Passengers can navigate content and control volume without pressing buttons, facilitated by hand gesture controls that give a bit of a next-generation feel, while travel partners can access networks from their in-seat computers.

LG’s Expanding Partnership with Hyundai

Hyundai’s latest EVs and luxury vehicles match well with LG’s Digital Cockpit technology. The Hyundai EV3 uses LG’s Automotive Content Platform (ACP) with webOS, a Genesis GV80 SUV debuted an early version of that system. Moreover, this partnership brings to light the company’s latest in-car entertainment advancements as well as the replicating experience of LG smart TVs’ familiar interface. Hyundai owners in some areas can enjoy LG Channels, which provides over 80 LIVE TV channels 400 VOD selections, and real-time news updates, enriching passengers’ time with entertainment.

LG

LG’s ambition to be a key player in next-generation automotive tech is showcased by its Digital Cockpit concept. LG combines AI-driven safety measures, retractable OLED displays, and a powerful entertainment system to create a new standard in in-car technology. With LG’s Digital Cockpit, which brings a world where cars aren’t only smarter but also more responsive to driver and passenger needs, the future of driving may be hands-free.
