Today’s main news is about YouTube. The video platform is facing complaints from users around the world due to its Premium plan. While the app constantly reminds free users with messages like “Pay for YouTube Premium and forget about ads,” it turns out that people who pay for this plan are still seeing ads on the app, website, and TV.

Reddit is filled with users reporting that the Premium service still shows ads, and paying the monthly fee has not helped them get rid of them. Many of these ads are related to Google’s own services, such as Workspace. To make matters worse, there doesn’t seem to be a clear solution to this problem.
YouTube is aware of the issue but doesn’t seem to know what is causing it. They contacted Android Authority to say, “YouTube Premium subscribers should not see ads in their home feed, and we’re investigating why this may have happened.” This means they apparently don’t understand why this is happening or how to fix it.
According to YouTube, the platform removes ads from videos and the interface when you pay for a Premium monthly fee, though their support page notes a small exception.
However, this exception does not seem to explain what users are saying on Reddit. The ads they are seeing appear during videos and in banners throughout the interface, rather than being integrated into the content by the creator.
If you see ads on YouTube Premium, you may need to wait for a solution.
YouTube’s response is interesting, as it simply encourages users experiencing this issue to reach out to the platform’s support. They do not clarify whether this is a bug, if they are working on a fix, or if it is just a one-time issue. “We have also informed the user that they should contact support,” the service told the source mentioned above.
Fortunately, this issue doesn’t seem to be widespread, so it might only be affecting a small number of users. It doesn’t prevent you from watching content or cause significant annoyance, but it’s understandable that Premium subscribers would feel frustrated by the situation. If you’re experiencing this problem, for now, we recommend waiting or contacting the platform’s technical support. However, it’s likely they will just tell you something like, “We are working on it.”
