Battlefield 6 has a lot of players waiting to see whether Season 2 will fix what is broken. The game launched with big numbers. Those numbers have since fallen on PC and in many console communities. Some players have grown frustrated by matchmaking and map choices. Other players have been bothered by reported hit detection and missing features, such as naval combat. For people who want a similar experience right now, a free-to-play shooter called Delta Force may be worth a serious look.

Why Players Leave

Battlefield 6 arrived with a splash and a large player base at launch. The game then saw a steep decline in concurrent players on Steam and other services. Many community threads and reporting point to a drop in daily active users and long discussions about technical issues and content pacing. Developers have delayed Season 2 to polish content and to respond to feedback. That choice shows the team wants to get the update right. It does not solve the present gap for players who want large-scale battles and reliable servers today. Reports and community signals show many players are open to switching to another game while they wait.

Try Delta Force

Delta Force is a modern free-to-play shooter that focuses on large maps, squads, and mixed vehicles. The game supports big matches with dozens of players on each side. It also includes aircraft, naval craft, and drivable vehicles. That combination recreates many of the moments that longtime Battlefield players enjoy. Delta Force also includes an extraction-style mode called Hazard Operations that blends objective play with high-stakes loot runs. The game is currently live and free to try on common PC storefronts. Recent updates have added a new season called Morphosis that brings fresh maps and new modes. Those changes show the team is actively expanding the game.

Delta Force offers several advantages for players looking for an immediate alternative. Its map roster already includes water-based combat. It supports large team sizes, and it embraces both classic conquest-style battles and focused extraction modes. The result is a game that can scratch the large-scale itch and also offer something different when players want a new challenge.

How the Games Compare

Match size and scope matter to many players. Delta Force runs large 32 versus 32 matches and supports vehicles across land, sea, and air. That gives the game a feel similar to what Battlefield fans remember from peaks in the series. The match flow in Delta Force is not identical to Battlefield 6. Controls are not always the same. Each game has a different feel to gunplay and movement. Yet for players prioritizing scale and vehicle combat, Delta Force fills many gaps.

Extraction and hybrid modes are a growing part of the shooter landscape. ARC Raiders and other newer titles showed the audience’s appetite for extraction and mission-first design. Delta Force bridges that trend with its Hazard Operations mode while still supporting classic large-scale modes. For players who like both formulae, that hybrid approach makes Delta Force a compelling daily driver.

Delta Force is not perfect. It has its own bugs and balance questions. It also delivers a different tempo compared with Battlefield 6 multiplayer. Still, the active development and the free-to-play entry point make it an easy game to try while waiting for big patches or content drops elsewhere.

Season 2 Pushed Back

The Battlefield 6 Season 2 has been delayed to give it more polish. The message about the developer was that the additional time would contribute to a decreased chance of a rocky launch. That is a reasonable approach. It does not help players who want an immediate replacement. Delta Force is playable now. It has received recent seasonal updates and retains a regular community. For players who are done waiting or are tired of technical problems, trying Delta Force will not cost anything and could make the wait for Battlefield updates more tolerable.

Delta Force provides both breadth and variety. It supports classic large-format battles and modern extraction-style modes. It also has vehicle-focused maps and naval engagements on demand. Those features will likely appeal to players who opened Battlefield 6 hoping for the return of large-scale warfare and have been disappointed.
