Konami has silently attested that a new Silent Hill game is being made in addition to the Silent Hill 1 remake. The news arrived as part of Konami’s briefings that followed recent studio releases and earnings updates. The new project will sit alongside the Bloober Team remake work and the Studio F release that Konami recently launched.

New Silent Hill
Konami referred to the next project as a new brand in the family of Silent Hill. The company announced that it has intentions to expand the series on several fronts. Konami already has several Silent Hill projects in motion. One of those is a full remake of Silent Hill 1. Another is Silent Hill F, which arrived last year. Konami now says another original title is underway.
The publisher noted that future Silent Hill games will explore different tones and styles. The focus is to retain the franchise fresh and reach new players. Konami has been explicit that every new Silent Hill game might appear and experience something different. That strategy allows studios to experiment with new plotlines and gameplay and retain the Silent Hill name.
Project Details
Konami has not revealed the developer behind the new project. The company also did not offer a release window or platforms. The lack of detail is common at this stage. Konami has affirmed that the Silent Hill 1 remake is in the process of production with Bloober Team, and that team required some years to work on the remake. Silent Hill 2 remake already sold a great deal to Bloober Team, which confirms that the remake of the series is in demand in a modern interpretation.
Konami has indicated a definite direction of the IP. The publisher has indicated that it plans to publish new projects of Silent Hill on a regular basis. Such a plan is one of the larger efforts to revive Silent Hill as a huge, multi-project franchise. The new title may be either a straight sequel of another game, a retelling of a previous one, or a spin on the franchise idea. At present, there is no confirmation of which route Konami has chosen.

Series Outlook
Silent Hill brand has recovered a high momentum. The remake of Silent Hill 2 by Bloober Team sold quite well and contributed to the revival of the IP. The fact that Konami has a larger intention to release several, tonally varied releases implies that the players will be subjected to variance in the releases. The strategy also provides choices to Konami. The company is able to support risk-taking by individual teams and maintain a consistent release pace.
For fans, this is good news. Konami currently has remake work, as well as new projects under development. The mix would make Silent Hill to be remembered over the coming years. To developers, the strategy gives other creative groups a possibility to experiment in the same franchise.
