Spotify will start placing select video podcasts on Netflix in early 2026. The deal brings shows from Spotify Studios and The Ringer to the streaming service. This move aims to grow audience reach for creators and to expand video listening on both platforms.

The initial slate will focus on sports culture, lifestyle, and true crime. Spotify identified a series of flagship shows that will be available on Netflix. The list comprises The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Zach Lowe Show, The Ringer NBA Show, The Rewatchables, and other attractive shows. Spotify indicated that the launch would take place in the United States and then move into other markets in the future.

Spotify is moving towards video content in order to increase ad revenues and creator opportunities. The company reports fast growth in video consumption and a rising number of creators publishing video shows on its platform. Spotify believes video offers new ad formats and new ways to monetize for both the company and creators. The firm noted that more than 350 million users streamed a video on Spotify and that video use is growing rapidly.

Why this matters

The partnership gives Spotify a wider distribution channel for its video work. Netflix can provide discovery and reach in living room viewing that Spotify alone may not match. For creators, the deal may open access to a new audience and new ad opportunities that come with scaled video distribution. For Netflix, the agreement adds a collection of long-form conversational content that fits its interest in expanding non-fiction video offerings.

How it will work for creators and users

Netflix will stream shows chosen in the United States on its launch. Spotify indicated that it would add additional shows and studios in the long run. The companies have not provided specifics of ad revenue divisions or creator direct monetization. Spotify is still working on features that allow podcasters to post videos and make a living through their efforts within the platform. The Netflix deal has been positioned on top of them as a new source of distribution.
