Truth Social has launched a new AI search called Truth Search AI. The feature uses Perplexity technology to generate answers and cite sources. The search is live on the web in public beta, and mobile tests are planned.
How the system works and who controls sources
Perplexity supplies the Sonar API, which finds and returns up-to-date web content and structured answers. The API includes tools that let a platform choose which domains or types of sites to include in results. That means a customer can narrow the list of sources the search will use.
Perplexity says its API returns transparent citations so readers can check the sources themselves. At the same time, a Perplexity spokesperson noted that customers who use the API control which sources are allowed. The vendor does not have visibility into restricted source lists when a customer sets them.
