OpenAI is reportedly in discussions with Samsung to bring its artificial intelligence technology to the company’s electronic devices. Recent reports suggest that the tech giant is aiming to finalize a deal that would allow it to integrate AI capabilities into Samsung’s product lineup. If successful, this partnership could result in ChatGPT being featured in the upcoming Galaxy S25 or future models.

According to The Korea Herald, OpenAI is negotiating with Samsung to expand its technology to more devices. While specific details remain limited, sources indicate that OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, is seeking an agreement similar to its partnership with Apple. Notably, OpenAI signed a special deal with Apple to include ChatGPT in iOS 18, enhancing AI functionality on mobile devices.

Currently, Samsung has a partnership with Google to use Gemini AI on the Galaxy S24. This collaboration has brought exclusive features to Samsung devices, some of which debuted on the Galaxy S24 before being available on other devices, including Google’s own. It remains unclear whether this partnership is a temporary exclusive or limited to Galaxy AI-compatible devices.

OpenAI Aims to Partner With Samsung to Challenge Google

OpenAI is eager to strike a deal that would enable its technology to reach more devices. If the company successfully secures an agreement with Samsung, its AI capabilities could be rolled out by the world’s largest mobile manufacturer. With ChatGPT already featured on the iPhone 16 and potentially coming to the Galaxy S25, OpenAI would solidify a strong position in the competitive race for artificial intelligence dominance.

Another key aspect of OpenAI’s strategy is its focus on expanding beyond mobile devices. The company is already exploring the idea of launching a web browser with integrated ChatGPT, aiming to compete directly with Chrome. Following the announcement of its SearchGPT search engine, OpenAI appears ready to take a bold step into a market largely dominated by Google.

Long-term, deals with Apple and Samsung could significantly benefit OpenAI. In addition to potentially replacing or enhancing Bixby with ChatGPT’s voice assistant, OpenAI might integrate SearchGPT as the default search engine for mobile browsers. Looking ahead, the rumored web browser developed by Sam Altman and his team could even find its way into Galaxy Books.

While there is no official statement from Samsung, a company spokesperson hinted at the possibility, saying, “We are promoting an open ecosystem and remain open to collaborating with all our partners.”
