One UI 7 is expected to arrive on most Samsung phones between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. In addition to installing Android 15, bringing a new overall design, completely redesigned icons, and several important security improvements, Samsung is also preparing significant changes to the camera. Thanks to leaks, we now know that the camera will be a major focus of this highly anticipated update.

Samsung is not only planning to modify the app’s design, change certain settings, and update most photography options, but it also intends to restructure the available sections and introduce a range of features that could elevate your Galaxy’s camera to the next level.

The first details of One UI 7 will be revealed soon, as the first beta is expected to launch next week, starting on November 17. It will be during this time that we’ll discover how the new algorithm works, the AI improvements Samsung plans to implement, and which new modes Samsung users will be able to access.

For now, some sources have confirmed that Samsung will be changing several important algorithms, modifying key shooting modes, and simplifying the entire app. This means that a large part of Samsung’s lineup will receive a complete overhaul, with a more user-friendly camera and, likely, a noticeable improvement in photo quality.

Confirmed Changes to the One UI 7 Camera

Until we can try out the One UI 7 Beta and the various apps it includes, we have to rely on the details we can confirm. Thanks to some leaked screenshots, we know that Samsung is making changes to one of the most important sections of its camera app: the AR zone.

Everything related to augmented reality, including stickers, object measurements, and image editing with filters and stickers, will no longer be part of the main camera app. As mentioned earlier, Samsung is working to simplify the camera, so all these tools will be moved to a separate app.

  • AR Doodle
  • AR Emoji Camera
  • AR Emoji Studio
  • AR Emoji Stickers
  • Deco Pic
  • Quick Measure

It’s unclear whether all of these will be grouped into a single AR-related app or several different ones. However, it’s clear that they won’t be accessible from the main camera interface. The main camera app will be focused solely on taking photos and videos, leaving these additional tools in the background to avoid cluttering the app with less popular functions.

Lastly, the AR Emoji feature will be renamed Galaxy Avatar in One UI 7. It’s expected that Samsung will also encourage users to create their own avatars for various scenarios and functions.
