Duolingo, known for its language-learning platform, is broadening its reach by collaborating with Loog to create a new offering aimed at musicians looking to develop their skills. The duo has rolled out the Loog x Duolingo Piano, a compact, affordable piano designed for beginners that costs $249. The instrument is meant to support Duolingo’s music course from last year, which takes a gamified method to train piano playing.

It is reported that the Loog x Duolingo Piano represents a partnership edition of the Loog’s digital portable piano, launched on Kickstarter for the first time. The piano incorporates 37 velocity-sensitive keys that tailor the sound volume according to the force applied when pressing them, thus enhancing the playing experience dynamically. It has the same minimalist wooden design as Loog’s original model but sports a special Duolingo-green coating along with a more lightweight wooden knob. In addition, a corresponding phone stand is given, permitting users to follow Duolingo’s music lessons on their smartphones when they practice.

Portable and Feature-Packed

The Loog x Duolingo Piano has a length of 18.9 inches (480.8mm) and weighs 3.64 pounds (1.65kg), ensuring that it is small enough to put away in a drawer. It has stereo speakers included and a rechargeable battery that can continue for up to eight hours after a single charge. The piano provides sophisticated learners with ports for an octave shifter and sustain pedal, a USB-C jack for charging and MIDI transmission, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for more silent practice sessions.

The piano lessons available in Duolingo’s music course are limited for now, yet these lessons can be taken with any piano, not only the Loog x Duolingo model. Even so, the collaboration includes extra features that make it easier for beginners, including flashcards to teach them. It is important to acknowledge that the piano is at present only available for pre-order and is expected to ship next month.

Ideal for Beginners

Duolingo and Loog have specifically created this product for beginners with the intention of making it as accessible and enjoyable as learning languages. This new collaboration provides a user-friendly experience for novices with its compact design and the ability to change dynamics.
