The developers of Blizzard Online Roleplay have commented for the first time on the serious guild bank bug that has caused items to disappear in WoW: The War Within since August.
In WoW: The War Within, a significant bug occurred after the release of patch 11.0.2, which led to items suddenly disappearing from guild banks. Since early August, many old crafting items have been “swallowed” by the guild banks. It wasn’t until the end of September that the developers finally addressed this issue.
On September 20, Community Manager Linxy posted on the official US WoW forum, stating that they are working on the problem and are in the process of restoring the missing items. However, it seems that not all items can be recovered.
Guild Bank Bug – Not All Items Can Be Saved

About a week after the release of Patch 11.0.2 in August, we received reports from some players who were missing items from their guild banks.
As we investigated the issue over the next few days, we identified the cause: a technical update made to support cross-realm guilds. An unexpected bug during one of our maintenance processes led to some items disappearing. Many of these items were related to profession materials from previous expansions, but it’s also possible that players lost other items from their guild banks.
In the past few weeks, we have been gathering the missing items we identified as lost, and we will soon be sending them to the guild leaders of the affected guilds.
Unfortunately, due to the way some data was lost, we have reached a point where some guilds will only receive partial recovery, and we cannot recover the remaining missing items for them.
We apologize for this situation and for the long wait. We appreciate your patience while we worked on this difficult issue.
In the worst-case scenario, some guilds will not get back their valuable items. Guild leaders will find a full mailbox once the bug is fixed and will need to return the items to the guild bank. This is a tough blow for those guilds.
